Classroom Origami War is a simple  single-player game where you take part in an origami battle. Spend your paper resources to fold and send units by playing a quick mini-game. 

Protect your paper captain on the left while trying to defeat the enemy on the right. Win battles to earn coins, which you can use to upgrade and unlock new units in the Shop menu.


Controls :

To Spawn unit : Keyboard alphanumeric keys (1, 2, 3, 4, ...)

Origami minigame to spawn unit : Keyboard arrow or ASDW 


Tutorial :

When enough paper, click on a unit or press a number (1, 2, ...) to try to spawn it.

Then press in the correct order the keyboard arrow (or ASDW).



Unlock new Units and upgrades in the shop.

  • 🔧 Assets Used: Bought UI assets ($13), old scripts from old game Greenwood Defense.
  • 🥊 Challenges:
    • Technical: Reusing old scripts caused issues; should have built from scratch.
    • Design: Game unbalanced, too slow, initial focus on less critical features.
    • Time Management: Poor sleep schedule, improper task prioritization.
  • ✅ Successes:
    • Great unit paper style sprites and overall mood.
    • Effective and mood-setting origami minigame.
    • Positive feedback on art and sound.

Improvements Needed:

  • Balance gameplay: Faster pace, smoother difficulty curve, more units.
  • Reduce classic "wave attack" mechanics.
  • Improve animation quality.

Learnings:

  • Building from scratch can be faster and better.
  • Autonomous scripts are crucial for ease of use.
  • Strict deadlines enhance focus and productivity.

🚩 Conclusion:

  • Happy with the submission despite balance issues.
  • Game has potential for Steam with further polish and content.
  • Positive experience with Mini Jam, plans to participate in more game jams.
